A Five-Week Mandolin Workshop
with Don Julin
Learn five essential jam session favorites from the 1930's swing era that sound great on the mandolin.
It has been about a year since the first Jazz Is Not Dead mandolin workshop.
Many of you asked when I was doing another jazz workshop focused on standard swing repertoire.
I am pleased to announce that my spring 2022 workshop will be just that.
Jazz Is Not Dead: Volume II: Jam Session Essentials will feature five 1930's era swing tunes that sound great on the mandolin.
This five-week workshop will feature one swing standard per week.
Of course, we will cover the melody & chords, but the fun starts when we arrange/embellish/improvise with these tunes.
The tunes I have selected for this workshop are easy enough for intermediates to learn but offer enough complexity for the more advanced player.
A basic understanding of music theory will be helpful as we will explore scales, licks, arpeggios, and various soloing ideas.

All workshop elements will be recorded and uploaded to the workshop homepage. You have unlimited access to these recordings, PDF, practice tracks, and more. So no matter your work schedule, timezone, or prior commitments, you can still have unlimited access to the entire workshop. The only part you will miss out on is the live Q&A sessions called Office Hours, but these too are recorded.
