Tara Linhardt


Tara Linhardt is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist who and teaches all ages and a variety of styles. She has a Masters in Education and has also won many awards for her skills as an instrumentalist and some for songwriting. She has taken first place in mandolin in such contests as The Mt. Airy Fiddler's Convention, the Maury River Fiddler's Convention, Watermelon Park Festival, and The Deer Creek Fiddler's Convention just to name a few.  She also has been nominated in multiple years for Washington DC Bluegrass Instrumentalist of the year. She performs Bluegrass, Swing Jazz, and Himalayan-Appalachian musics. She has performed at National Geographic, The Smithsonian Folklike Festival, The Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, The 9:30 Club, and varieties of other venues, music festivals, and universities. She has taught at festivals and music camps such at The Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival, Bluegrass Week at the Common Ground Festival in Maryland, the Watermelon Park Festival, and the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival. She is also a founding member of The Mountain Music Project, which made a documentary film and a CD comparing and explaining the traditional musics of the Appalachian mountains and that of the musician caste in Himalayan mountains of Nepal.
